What is Garcinia Cambogia?

Garcinia Cambogia, a tropical fruit found in India and Southeast Asia has gained much popularity as a weight loss supplement. The hydroxy citric acid or HCA found in Garcinia Cambogia apparently acts as a competitive inhibitor of the enzyme ATP citrate lyase. ATP citrate lyase is an enzyme crucial for fatty acid biosynthesis, or conversion of glucose into fat. So Garcinia’s HCA supposedly can help prevent the formation of fat.

Trials conducted in India and Japan have proven Garcinia Cambogia extract (HCA 60%) is effective for weight loss. The studies revealed a reduction of 5% to 8% in body fat and weight within 8 weeks. Participants also see a significant drop in their cholesterol levels.
